The Parish priest is Chaplain to Warrington Hospital and can be contacted either directly at St Alban’s or through the hospital itself.
It is recommended that any Catholics due to be admitted to the hospital should make this known to their parish priest beforehand so that the sacraments can be administered.
In emergency cases the hospital staff can be asked to contact the priest who is ‘on-call’ at all times. Sometimes it may be necessary for a priest from one of the other parishes to respond to a ‘bleep’ call from the hospital.
There is a dedicated team of Eucharistic Ministers who visit each ward weekly and administer Holy Communion to patients.
Mass is celebrated in the hospital Chapel on Saturdays at 11.00 am, when patients are brought there from the wards by willing helpers from various parishes in the town.
The priest also takes care of people in the Nursing Homes within the parishes of St Alban and Sacred Heart.
These include : Callands Court, Westvale
(in Old Hall), Woodleigh (in Callands) and
Lodge Lane, Hawleys Lane.
Eucharistic Ministers take Holy Communion to the patients in these Nursing Homes when requested. The priest is always available and visits the homes regularly as well as on request.
